Israeli Airstrikes Target Damascus, Killing 11 in Homs, Syria – AFP Report

Damascus

Israeli airstrikes target the city of Homs, central Syria. As a result, 11 people died.

From the report AFP, Thursday (8/2/2024), of the 11 people, there were 7 civilians. Then 2 people were identified as Hezbollah soldiers. The airstrike targeted a building in Hamra, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said

The attack leveled entire buildings in one of Homs’ most prosperous districts. A total of 4 students and a woman and her son were among the dead.

Meanwhile, a Syrian working with the Hezbollah group and an unidentified pro-Iran fighter were also killed. State television showed footage of rescue teams searching for survivors in the rubble of buildings.

Syria’s Defense Ministry said “Israel launched airstrikes against a number of locations in Homs and its countryside… killing and wounding a number of civilians,” without providing exact figures on the number of casualties.

It is known that Israel has launched hundreds of air strikes on Syria since the civil war broke out in 2011. However, Israel has continued to increase its attacks since the war with Hamas in Gaza on October 7 2023.
