The semi-final of the Nations League between the Orange Women and Spain in two weeks has been moved from Cádiz to Seville. The Spanish region of Andalusia decided this because football club Cádiz did not want to give up its stadium.
Cádiz only wanted to give up the stadium if the La Liga match against Celta de Vigo was moved from Sunday to Monday. Since there are only two days between the Nations League match and the competition match, Cádiz did not like the visit of the football women.
The Spanish football association RFEF apologized in a statement on Wednesday for any confusion. “The RFEF regrets any inconvenience this situation may have caused fans and will refund the amount of all tickets to those who had already purchased them.”
Spain and the Netherlands will compete for a final place in the Nations League on February 23, but it is mainly about Olympic qualification. The other semi-final is between France and Germany, who, like the Dutch team and Spain, are group winners in the Nations League.
In principle, only the finalists qualify for next summer’s Olympic tournament. But because France, as host country, is already assured of participation in the Olympic Games in Paris, the second ticket will move to number three if France reaches the final.
