The affair caused a stir. The announcement of creation an addiction care center (HSA) at 110 boulevard de la Libération (4th), intended to accommodate drug users in a secure environment and quickly renamed “shoot Room”had made the local residents jump and part of the political class. The project, supported by the City of Marseille et Public Assistance for Marseille Hospitals (APHM)among others, was finally suspended by the regional prefect at the beginning of January. Prefect Christophe Mirmand nevertheless clarified during his greetings to the press, Thursday January 18, that it was the location, in the city center, which had prompted the suspension and not the substance of the project itself.
Questioned during a press conference on Monday February 5, the general director of the APHM François Crémieux gives his feelings about the situation: “This project is a necessity. THE Inserm evaluations demonstrated that it was effective in reducing risks and supporting people […]. With our partners, we will do everything to find another location. For the moment, this location has not been identified”he explains.

He bounces back on the hypothesis of installing this HSA near a hospital, suggested in particular by the president of the South region Renaud Muselier : “It is true that this has already been seen, for example the HSA installed within the Lariboisière hospital in Paris. But the context is not the same, this sector contains many drug users. We do not have this configuration in Marseille, where consumers are far from hospitals. In my opinion, we need to get as close as possible to these people. But this subject can be debated » thus tempers François Crémieux. One thing is certain: the “shooting room” has not finished making people talk about it…
