As soon as it became clear that Nothing’s new mobile phone with a more cost-effective design is indeed coming, the news is already saying that there is a picture of the device. However, it doesn’t look the way it might otherwise be expected. This may not be what the device will actually look like, as this render is from an unofficial source for now.
Carl Pei’s startup said in its quarterly summary to the community that the rumors are true; Nothing Phone (2a) is indeed coming. The company has not yet shared details about the capabilities of the device, but one of the experts said that compared to the Nothing Phone (1), the new product will be an improvement in all respects.
Previously, there were already leaked images that in principle showed the Nothing Phone (2a), but on those images the camera was in a completely different arrangement than in the render image that just appeared. Of course, the design sometimes changes during development, especially when it comes to a smaller company where the ideas are not so rock solid. In itself, it would not be interesting that the cameras are located elsewhere on the back, the only problem is that the familiar Glyph interface cannot be seen in the current pictures.

The back panel is transparent, giving the impression of a frosted glass, but it is probably a plastic surface. There are different “design” bands on the back, but it doesn’t paint the structure like Nothing Phone (1) and Phone (2). By the way, the two cameras are roughly the same as in the previous devices, so there are no real surprises here.
The absence of Glyph LED strips is the striking difference compared to previous smartphones. The company is constantly working on how the Glyph works, so it would be surprising if it simply abandoned the lighting from here. Perhaps only a revised LED indicator system will appear here. In the render image, you can see that there are scattered small dots on the back panel, and they look a bit like LED light sources.
It is not known when the cheaper Nothing Phone (2a) will be launched, but it is said to be launched with a starting price of only 400 euros. We wrote about its expected features in more detail in our previous news, but the specification has not yet been officially mentioned.
