Talking about performance, the most significant thing about the Yamaha Lexi LX 155 is that it has received improvements in terms of engine. Not just changing the engine from 125 cc to 155 cc, but the engine structure has also changed.
Even though it has a capacity of 155 cc like the NMAX and Aerox, many developments have been carried out for the newest Lexi.
PT. Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing (YIMM) has made changes to the engine structure which is able to provide a completely new engine taste.
With this change, the Yamaha Lexi LX 155 has greater torque, namely 14.2 Nm. This figure is 0.3 Nm greater than the Aerox and NMAX engines.
In order to provide a balance of performance to remain comfortable, several new “touches” have been made to the Lexi LX 155 engine.
“In order to remain comfortable when driving, we have changed the structure of the engine, so that it has a large torque, but the gear movement remains smooth with an improved drive system,” said Ferry Nurul, Technical and Education YIMM.
Ferry added that changes to the Yamaha Lexi LX 155 engine focus on mechanical efficiency, or less friction. So the first thing to do is focus on the lighter rotor or magnet.
“When lightening this magnet, we think about the balance between the right and left parts. We also have to pay attention to balance,” explained Ferry.
Meanwhile, the second thing is to change the crankshaft or crankshaft, which is revised to be shorter to reduce weight and the dimensions can be adjusted for balance factors.
“The third change we made was to transfer rotation from the cranksaft to the camsaft, or valve movement. We made changes to the camsaft or to be precise the sprocket seat,” explained Ferry.
Ferry added that this will be a big new change for other generations of Yamaha Maxi engines, especially for NMAX and Aerox.
