Luis Diaz Nominated for Liverpool Goal of the Month, Two Years Since Debut

On the day that marks two years since his debut with Liverpool, Luis Díaz appears with the option of adding an individual distinction to the club. A goal from the Colombian is among the 10 nominees for the best of the month of January in the Reds, a list in which scores from youth categories and the women’s team also appear.

The Colombian’s goal was the one that sealed qualification to the fourth round of the FA Cup on January 7 at the Emirates Stdaium in London. Liverpool beat Arsenal 0-1 and in the fifth minute of added time came the visitor’s lethal transition, assist from Diogo Jota for control and a right hand over the top from Díaz. Nothing to do for Aaron Ramsdale.

This was the first of three goals that the 27-year-old winger has scored so far in 2024, as he scored against Fulham in a 1-1 draw to advance to the Carabao Cup final and on January 31 he celebrated in the 4- 1 over Chelsea at Anfield.

Assist from Díaz and goal from Bradley, among the nominees

The Colombian participated directly in another of the nominees for best goal of the month of January in Liverpool. It was precisely in the win over Chelsea, in which Díaz transported and enabled Conor Bradley for his cross shot with which he scored his first goal in the Reds’ professional team.

Two goals from Darwin Núñez against Bournemouth and Norwich and another from Diogo Jota against the latter rival are the other nominees of the professional club. There is also women’s football and reserves. Fans can vote for their favorite via the Reds website.

Jürgen Klopp’s team has just lost 3-1 against Arsenal in London, a result that tightened the Premier League in which the Reds remain at the top of the standings. Díaz and company focus on the match this Saturday, February 10 against Burnley.
