Anyone interested can apply for an educational sponsorship in Gelsenkirchen-Ückendorf until February 15th. This is aimed at people who want to support disadvantaged children and young people from the district in their learning. In return, the active participants receive a free place in a shared apartment with other educational sponsors on Bochumer Straße.
Places are also available in other district cities and in Hamburg
This year, the “Swap Education for Living” association will be offering a total of twelve places in exchange bars in various cities in the area, but also in Hamburg, to young adults who want to get involved socially and gain experience. In addition to supporting learning, the program also offers leisure activities for the children from the neighborhood. In addition to the shared room, the sponsors receive pocket money of 420 euros as well as qualification measures. Marie Angerer, who looks after the educational sponsors, emphasizes: “Our educational sponsors often leave us strengthened and with new self-confidence. Many develop clear ideas about their career path – be it in the social sector or a completely different area.”
