What can we expect from the Apple “Sugar” series?

Film star Colin Farrell – soon to be seen in the Max supervillain series The Penguin – plays private detective John Sugar here. He is on the trail of the mysterious disappearance of the beloved granddaughter of a legendary Hollywood producer. During his research, Sugar uncovers dark secrets about the Siegels. Also in the ensemble: Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Amy Ryan, James Cromwell, Anna Gunn and Dennis Boutsikaris. The screenplay is by Mark Protosevich (“I Am Legend”), Donald Joh (Snowpiercer) and Sam Catlin (Preacher).

Michael Douglas becomes the founding father in “Franklin.”

Hollywood veteran Michael Douglas (The Kominsky Method, “Ant-Man”) brings the exciting story of the US founding father and inventor Benjamin Franklin to the screens in the title role. In December 1776, Franklin is world-famous for his electrical experiments, but his passion and power are tested when he undertakes a secret mission to France with the fate of American independence hanging in the balance.

At age 70, with no diplomatic training, Franklin convinces an absolute monarchy to support America’s democracy. Thanks to his fame, charisma and ingenuity, Franklin outwitted British spies, French informants and hostile colleagues to bring about the Franco-American alliance of 1778 and the peace treaty with England of 1783. The eight-year French mission is considered Franklin’s most important service to his country, without which America could not have won the Revolution.
