It was the local police from the Montgomery area who found the man around 4:45 am. The officers immediately supported him and informed the fire brigade and emergency medical services. They were able to free the man, who was heavily intoxicated, and transfer him to hospital. It is still unclear exactly how the man got stuck.
It often happens that someone gets stuck in the roller shutters of Brussels metro stations. Last year, a man even died in the Rogier metro station.
The shutters in the metro stations open automatically in the morning. If someone lies against the roller shutter, they can become trapped.
