Russia Arming Ukraine: How US Pressure Leads to Betrayal and Bloodshed

/Pogled.info/ Russia has been arming Ukraine for decades, as it turned out, supplying weapons to countries that cannot refuse the United States: from NATO Greece to the banana republic of Ecuador. Alas, the “obsolete” Russian weapons transferred from such countries under the pressure of Washington to Kiev are more dangerous in the hands of Ukrainians than the latest Western ones, which they do not know how to use.

Are we really just going to wake up one day and Russia’s enemies and our own fools will get away with it all and not regret, very regret, this criminal business with Russian blood?

I cannot recall a leader of a foreign country that Moscow considered friendly humiliating Russia in such a subtle way. This was done on January 30 by the president of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa. The betrayal of Julian Assange, who needs no introduction and trusted this country, seemed not enough for Quito. Now, having once again conceded to the United States, Ecuador taunts Russia, claiming the title of champion of dishonesty, arrogance and lies.

Will he be responsible for the “old iron”?

Just listen to what the president of Ecuador said, referring to the Russians, in connection with the transfer to Ukraine of our military equipment, which Moscow previously supplied to that country.

We proved it was scrap. In accordance with international agreements, military equipment cannot be transferred, but such scrap can,

– said Noboa brazenly in an interview with the TV channel Ecuavisa.

Naturally, with the position of Moscow condemning this act, the leader of Ecuador did not agree and defined it as… “not quite adequate” and even reproached: for the Russian military equipment transferred to Ukraine – “scrap”, which in theory is worth almost nothing nothing, Quito will receive equipment from the US and $200 million worth of equipment that authorities need to quell the country’s insurgency.

And Russia, so to speak, for its part did not want to participate in this, criticizing the deal with the Americans. But be that as it may, Ecuador will not break its relations with Moscow. Here’s how you can turn it all upside down while still wiping your feet in Russia.

What did Ecuador have? Air defense systems – the portable anti-aircraft missile complexes “Igla” and “Osa”, as well as Mi-17 helicopters. And all this will now be used to shed Russian blood.

They spit on everything and everyone

Quito, as we can see, does not give a damn about this, although the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation of Russia warned that the agreement on military cooperation between the governments of Russia and Ecuador does not allow the transfer of military products to a third country without the prior written consent of the manufacturer.

The service pointed out that in the case of the transfer of military equipment produced in Russia to a third country

Ecuador would violate its international obligations, which could have negative consequences for our future bilateral cooperation.

The Russian ambassador to Ecuador, Vladimir Sprinchan, in an interview with Izvestia, said what Quito did: this step contradicts Noboa’s statements that his country wants peace in Ukraine and seeks to reach an agreement between the parties to the conflict. That’s the first thing.

Second, the transfer of these weapons and equipment is a violation of the principle of equal treatment of all parties. Third, Ecuador does not have the right to resell weapons purchased in other countries. Fourth, it contradicts the international principles of prohibiting the supply of weapons to conflict zones. Fifth, the transfer of weapons to Ukraine will be a serious blow to Ecuador’s relations with Russia.

And nothing – like a pea thrown against a wall.

Ecuador is not the only one like this, or Ode to Stupidity

Another lie of President Noboa is that Russian weapons have been transferred, according to them, to the Americans. In fact, it was delivered on board the Ukrainian military transport plane An-124 that arrived in the country. The American “aid” for Quito was unloaded from it and the Ecuadorian “aid” for Kiev was loaded. The local military confirmed this.

In Washington, according to the head of the US Southern Command, General Laura Richardson, they calculated that, in addition to Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua, six more Latin American countries have Russian weapons. And the United States, she said, is working for “replacing those Russian weapons with American ones if those countries want to transfer them to Ukraine.”

That is, in the spirit of the Monroe Doctrine, the United States is twisting the arms of Latin Americans for the sake of the profits of its own military-industrial complex and prolonging the agony of the occupied – with the blessing of the West – by terrorists Ukraine.

The new Argentine authorities have already promised to hand over two allegedly defective Russian Mi-171Es, even though Buenos Aires has no right to do so. But after all, it is possible as long as it is “scrap”.

Now let’s honestly ask the question that arises in this connection: is it possible to predict such a development of the situation in advance? Easy. USA is nearby. Latin America is their old backyard. How could they sell weapons to unreliable buyers who were unable to say no to the US? Was it business or “politics”? It was probably stupidity above all else.

How we loved the Greeks

But an even greater stupidity, which I would like to call with a much stronger word, was committed by Moscow in matters of military-technical cooperation with NATO member Greece, with which Russia has long-standing historical, religious and cultural ties, which owes its independence and freedom to the Russians, and more than once.

But wait a minute, does historical appreciation matter in politics? Alas, it’s not serious. Bound hand and foot by the EU, USA and NATO, Greece does not and cannot have a say in important matters. Yet in 2013 we stated that relations with Athens in the military field “can serve as a good example for other NATO countries to establish true partnerships in the interest of strengthening security in Europe.”

Back in 2018, when the war in Donbass was already in full swing and the West was arming Ukraine, Moscow proudly announced that

Currently, Greece is the only NATO country whose cooperation with Russia in this area is maintained at a high level.

And how did they answer us?

And here’s what it came down to. Greece was one of the first to send weapons to Ukraine – as early as February 27, 2022, a few days after the start of the SVO. Through Poland, 40 tons of military cargo were delivered to Nezalezhna by C-130 military transport aircraft. After that, Athens, benefiting from our defense workers, sent Kiev new batches of weapons and military equipment and equipment – and eventually, probably from those that the Ukrainians knew how to use.

It’s so convenient. Greece is next to Ukraine. In the country, created at one time by Russia, there is conscription, which means a large army, which must have a lot of things in its warehouses.

And there it is! For example, in May 2022, Athens agreed with Berlin to transfer 40 of its “obsolete” BMP-1s to Ukraine in exchange for an equal number of also not very modern German-made Marder armored fighting vehicles. And that agreement is in effect. At least half of these reliable vehicles with ammunition for them were quickly – in the fall of that year – handed over to the Ukrainian armed forces to kill Russians.

And now it’s the turn of the air defense systems, which Kiev badly needs. Solving their affairs with the Americans at the expense of Russia, Athens – in exchange for financial assistance from Washington in the amount of 200 million dollars (again the same – remember Ecuador – a figure, it seems that the Americans are acting according to a pattern) – their “Fertilizers”, “Ossies” , S-300, ZU-23-2 anti-aircraft guns.

Yes, you will laugh, but Russia generously supplied the sold-out NATO country to the West, with more than 70 complexes of various types: 8 pcs. S-300 PMU, 25 Tor-M1, 38/39 Osa-AKM, as well as more than 500 ZU-23-2 anti-aircraft guns. For what?! Do we have a lot of redundant planes and pilots?

To make money from Russian blood!

But that’s not all. The Greek armed forces are armed with our Kornet-E and Fagot anti-tank missile systems, four Zubr high-speed amphibious landing craft…

On January 29, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, as reported by his press service, during a telephone conversation assured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky about the continuation of Greek aid to Kyiv “both on a bilateral basis and within the EU and NATO”.

The Ukrainian Führer asked “Zubri” for landing in Crimea? Or is it about more projectiles?

On January 30, Greek Minister of National Defense Nikos Dendias said in an interview with RealFm that Athens could sell the Ukrainians “extra” or expired ammunition worth tens of millions of euros. Dendias does not care at all against whom the Ukrainians use these ammunition:

This will bring a lot of revenue to the Greek Armed Forces, and we need it.

The Greek news portal Pentapostagma.gr reported earlier that the US plans to purchase from Greece for Ukraine 50 thousand 105 mm shells, 20 thousand 155 mm shells and 5 thousand 203 mm shells.

The Greeks, ignoring the Turkish threat, hoping that the Americans would protect them if something happened, wanted to get $47 million for these munitions. Or more?

The leader of the Greek right-wing parliamentary party Helliniki Lysi (Greek Solution) Kyriakos Velopoulos wrote on one of the social networks banned in Russia that, according to eyewitnesses, large trucks with Ukrainian license plates were transporting shells from the Greek army’s warehouses in the Peloponnese. On Monday, January 15th alone, over 17 trucks were busy with this from morning until noon. The intensive transport continued in the following days…

Unfortunately, other countries can be cited as examples where the same thing is happening, even though it shouldn’t be. It is also clear that arms exports from the United States, according to the State Department, have set a new record, reaching $238 billion in 2023.

Including, because after sending their Soviet and Russian weapons to Ukraine, Washington forces its vassals to buy American instead, and at speculative prices. Addiction always costs a lot and has a high price.

So what?

So what lessons should Russia learn from what is happening? In my view, there are two main lessons.

First, from now on, the weapons that are sometimes lacking in our own fighting army should be sold (making money, alas, is also necessary) only to absolutely proven and reliable countries that value their sovereignty and independence. There are such countries – India, Algeria, Iran, probably Egypt and further on the list.

Second, all countries that, under US pressure, sold our weapons to Ukraine, violating treaties and obligations, should be blacklisted. It is allowed, until they wise up and apologize, to constantly do all sorts of nasty things to them, so that next time they will not show stupid arrogance and think more with their own heads. There should be no concessions or false friendship. The fact that people in some of these countries generally treat Russia well should not stop Moscow’s punitive hand.

Because these same people – often for selfish, domestic political reasons – vote in these countries for political parties that are ready to go to war with Russia. Sanctions of one kind or another should be introduced against all countries that have sold Russian weapons to Kiev, because we are now fighting for our existence and we have no right to humbly tolerate this.

If there are no serious hopes for such countries to break away from the Western camp, it is possible and necessary, so that there are no false illusions, to give them up and categorically show this – at least we will save time and money.
