IKEA Expanding Operations in Latvia: Now Hiring in Liepāja for Sales, Logistics, and Customer Service

One of the world’s largest home improvement products companies, founded in Sweden, is expanding its operations in Latvia and is looking for employees in the sales, logistics and customer service department in Liepāja. IKEA is hiring more than 20 employees for the planning and ordering location, which will open in the spring in Liepāja.

Already this spring, IKEA will open a customer service location in Liepāja. It will be the first smaller format service place in Latvia – a place for planning and ordering goods. A few months ago, the IKEA Liepāja team began to be formed by hiring a manager and department heads, and currently the team formation is continued by inviting candidates to apply for jobs in the sales, customer service and logistics departments.

Financial and non-financial benefits

Līga Konrad, head of the IKEA Human Resources and Company Culture Department, says that IKEA strives to be more than just a workplace and offers personal and professional growth opportunities, competitive financial and non-financial benefits, a work environment inspired by Swedish traditions, a culture of equality and togetherness, etc.

“Our intention is to create a better everyday life for many, starting with our employees. With a strong 80-year-old culture, IKEA is a workplace where everyone is valued and respected. Following the principle of equality and sense of community, we offer financial and non-financial benefits, such as health insurance for all employees, regardless of position or department. Also, annual bonuses, when the company reaches its goals, are paid to everyone who has worked throughout the financial year – from cleaning team employees to logistics specialists, from interior designers to cashiers,” admits L. Konrade.

More than work

The head of the human resources and company culture department says that the selection of IKEA employees is different from the usual candidates. The first job interview at IKEA focuses on personality, open discussion and frank dialogue to check if our values match.

“The first thing that employers usually consider when building a team is skills, knowledge and relevant experience. At IKEA, when creating a team, we first look at the way of thinking and the values important to the candidate, such as a sense of responsibility, sustainability, a sense of community, love for home improvement. We believe that the main thing is the right attitude, while skills or knowledge can be acquired,” says L. Konrad.
