The number six in the world, Our Jabeur, has responded to criticism from former players Martina Navratilova y Chris Evert, who published a column in The Washington Post in which they ratify their strong opposition to holding the WTA Finals in Saudi Arabia.

The first to respond to this publication was Reema Bandar Al Saud – ambassador of Saudi Arabia to the United States – in a statement addressed to the two former North American players, where she criticized the use of “outdated stereotypes”, in addition to inviting them to “they will be well informed.”

The Tunisian, Jabeur, spoke about this letter, applauding the words of Reema Bandar Al Saud. “Princess Reema’s response was incredible. I think she had class, elegance, and all the players were impressed by the way she approached Martina and Chris’ letter,” declared Jabeur to AFP.

“Obviously we are looking forward to going there, I personally am looking forward to going there,” added the three-time Grand Slam finalist..

Ons Jabeur: it is important not to limit yourself to listening to one of the parties

Given the great possibilities of holding WTA tournaments in Saudi Arabia, many have criticized this idea, words to which Jabeur responded.

“I think people should be more informed about what’s going on in Saudi Arabia, about how the country is getting better and better, and I think it’s important not to just listen to one side; in anything, to be honest, not only in this matter, but in anything,” declared Jabeur.

In addition, the Tunisian shared her feelings after visiting that country for an exhibition in December, an experience she described as “incredible and safe.” Ons Jabeur competes this week at the WTA in Abu Dhabi. Her first match will be in the round of 16 against Emma Raducanu.
