Rumors started with Hi-Fi Rush, but the list of Xbox Game Studios games reportedly headed to PlayStation and in some cases Nintendo Switch has grown with Sea of Thieves, Starfield, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, the yet-to-be-announced Gears of War remasters and a number of other titles recently. These reports have become more credible with each passing day, and the fact that Microsoft has refused to talk about them has made many fans quite upset. You can safely say that these will explode now and next week.
Phil Spencer, who is briefly the head of Xbox, confirms that Microsoft will hold what he calls a “business update” event over the next week, and that this will include information about the new multi-platform strategy for Xbox Game Studios titles and the future of Xbox in general.
So why does this article have what some of you might call a misleading headline? Let me ask you: Why wouldn’t Spencer deny these rumors right away if they were false? After all, they seem to make console warriors furious and regular Xbox players nervous. Even shareholders have some obvious questions about these rumors, so while Spencer doesn’t address the claims right away, he pretty much confirms that at least some of Xbox Game Studios’ games will find their way to PlayStation and Nintendo consoles in the future . We’ll likely learn more about how long Xbox’s timed exclusivity lasts (if any), why it shouldn’t matter to those who own Xbox consoles, and other details next week.
