Riyadh: New mosques are being established along long-distance routes for pilgrims arriving in Saudi Arabia. The first phase of the project was implemented in Madinah. The first mosque was established on the route from Medina to Yampu.
There is currently a huge increase in the number of pilgrims coming to Saudi Arabia. But there are few mosques in most places along the long distance routes for the pilgrims. At present, the pilgrims use the mosques which are concentrated in the country’s petrol pumps.
By establishing new mosques, prayer facilities for pilgrims can be improved. Basic facilities have also been set up for them near the mosques. The Mayor of Madina released the footage of the first such mosque on the road from Madina to Yambu the other day.
Last year alone, 1.3 crore pilgrims came to the country for the Umrah pilgrimage. The country is expecting around 1 crore pilgrims in the current season. New churches are being established in the background of all this.
