Clenbuterol is suspected in Taiwan Sugar’s Anshun dolphin plum slices. The Taichung City Government detected banned clenbuterol (Cimbuterol), with a detection value of 0.002ppm. When the Ministry of Agriculture inspected the same batch of meat samples, there was zero detection of clenbuterol. The Taichung City Government responded through a text today. In order to be cautious, the Food Safety Department took samples from the same box of meat three times. Each sample was required to be inspected several times on the machine, and the intermediate inspection values 6 times were included in the official report. As a reference for research and judgment, a total of 8 tests of recommended methods and 14 tests of announced methods were carried out.
Sample 1 was tested on the machine for a total of 10 times, with values ranging from 0.013ppm to 0.023. The first recommended method value of 0.018ppm and the announced method value of 0.015ppm were included in the official report for reference.
Sample 2 was tested on the machine for a total of 9 times, with values ranging from 0.001ppm to 0.004ppm. The recommended method value of 0.002ppm and the announced method value of 0.002ppm were included in the official report for reference.
Sample 3 was inspected three times in total, with values ranging from 0.002ppm to 0.003ppm. The recommended method value of 0.003ppm and the announced method value of 0.002ppm were included in the official report for reference.
The city government pointed out that all on-machine inspections were carried out in accordance with standard operations. With a rigorous attitude, there were more cases where recommended methods or announced methods were used, or the intermediate inspection values were included in the official report for reference (6 times), except for 1 case. Except that 0.001ppm is the same as the method detection limit, the other 21 times are all above 0.002ppm.
The Taichung City Food Safety Department stated that this afternoon, the specimens of Taitang plum blossom meat slices were also separated, kept at a low temperature and properly stored in a sufficient cold environment, and were sent to the Food and Drug Administration in person by Food Safety Department personnel.
