How much does a beer cost in your municipality during carnival? Omroep Brabant checked it out for you. We spoke to a pub or café in every Brabant municipality. Eindhoven stands out: the price for a beer there is the highest in all of Brabant: 3.75 euros. Last year the price in Lampegat was between 3 and 3.50 euros.
On average in Brabant you pay just over 2.90 for a vase during carnival. But there are also outliers, up and down. For example, where you can get a beer for 2 euros in Cranendonck, you pay 3.75 for a cold drink a little further away in Eindhoven.
In many municipalities, the catering industry has chosen to introduce a carnival coin that you can use to pay in all bars in that municipality. The price for a beer is therefore the same in every café in that location. Such a coin is available in Eindhoven, Best, Oudenbosch, Tilburg, Bergen op Zoom, Breda, Helmond, Veldhoven, Roosendaal and Waalwijk. The municipality of Maashorst also plans to do this, but they have not yet given a definitive answer about what the coin will cost.
The beer price in all other municipalities is therefore an indication, but will never deviate much from the indicated price tag.
This carnival you will pay more for beer in more than half of the Brabant municipalities compared to last year. 30 of the 55 bars or cafés indicate that they are raising their prices because of rising production prices. Eindhoven is the highest riser with an extra 75 cents per beer. Breda and Moerdijk share second place with an increase of forty cents.
