Ball shot by Mateus Fernandes hit Pedro Mendes and decided the match; Estoril was the one who most sought victory
The Amadora team recorded their third consecutive defeat and continues without winning in the calendar year 2024 and this was largely due to a moment without a star, in which, after a shot by Mateus Fernandes, the ball hit Pedro Mendes and completely betrayed Bruno Brígido, who until then had been a hero for the tricolors, after two fantastic saves from shots by Marqués (37 and 50). But in goal, the Brazilian wasn’t the only one to stand out, as, five minutes from the end, Dani Figueira made a fantastic stop and blocked a shot from Ronaldo Tavares, who was in a perfect position to equalize.
In this way, Estoril achieved its first victory in the calendar year 2024 and took a leap in the league table and, it must be said, the Cascais Line team was the one who struggled the most in the search for victory.
The start of the game was very warm, with the home team having more of the ball, but Estrela da Amadora having the first most obvious opportunity through Leo Jabá, in the 17th minute, thanks to a good intervention by Dani Figueira.
Estrela, more vertical, kept the momentum going, but Estoril responded through a header from Marqués to the aforementioned masterful save from Bruno Brígido.
Vasco Seabra was not satisfied and, even when moving the pieces around, the truth is that they proved to be much more assertive in attack and, maintaining possession of the ball with quality, they began to create scoring opportunities, against an Estrela who was referring to defense in search of lost points – even if it was just one to cheer up their lively hosts.
After the goal, those from Amadora began to be more daring in their attack, but without precision, as if going on strike against the goal, following the stoppage of the police forces that prevented some games from taking place over the weekend. So, the yellow ones smiled and the visitors were left with… a yellow smile.
