Inter Milan defeated its rival Juventus 1-0 at San Siro Stadium thanks to a friendly fire goal in the first half, which was supported by the post and goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny in the second half, strengthening its lead in the Italian Football League on Sunday.
Juventus player Federico Gatti scored the only goal of the match by mistake, an own goal, in the 37th minute, giving Inter Milan the lead.
Inter sent a cross from the right into the penalty area, but Gatti failed to clear it, putting the ball into his team’s net.
Hakan Calhanoglu almost added the second goal for Inter in the 57th minute, but his shot hit the left post.
Gatti came close to making up for the mistake he made in the first half with a tremendous shot in the 67th minute from the edge of the penalty area that went past the post.
Inter responded with a dangerous attempt that ended with a cross from the left side into the area, which was met by Nicolo Barella, who evaded control with a powerful shot that was brilliantly blocked by goalkeeper Szczesny in the 69th minute.
The Juventus goalkeeper also saved a dangerous attempt from Marko Arnautovic from inside the area in the 87th minute.
