FIFA announced Sunday that MetLife Stadium will host the 2026 World Cup final, a tournament hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada.
The final of the 2026 World Cup will be played on Sunday, July 19, as confirmed by FIFA.
The third place game will be held at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida.
FIFA also announced that the World Cup will open on June 11, 2026 in Mexico City, at the Azteca Stadium. Canada’s opening game will be played in Toronto (BMO Field) on June 12, 2026, followed by the United States’ opening game in Los Angeles (SoFi Stadium) on the same day. The USMNT’s three group stage matches will take place in two West Coast cities: Los Angeles and Seattle (Lumen Field).
The three countries host World Cup matches in 16 cities. The United States has 11, including Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, New York/New Jersey, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Seattle.
Guadalajara, Mexico City and Monterrey are the three cities in Mexico, and Vancouver and Toronto are the two in Canada.
The United States has previously hosted three World Cups in total: the men’s in 1994 and the women’s in 1999 and 2003.
The 1994 and 1999 finals took place at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, while the 2003 finals were held in Washington, D.C.
