A 52-year-old man was stabbed multiple times in the back and head in a seemingly random street attack outside a supermarket in the Bronx. (NYC).
The victim was standing outside the “With Foodmarket” on White Plains Road near Nereid Ave. when a man wearing glasses, a black hat and a red and black sweater approached him around 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 17, police said yesterday, releasing a photo of the fugitive suspect .

The stranger pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim repeatedly in the back, neck and left arm.. The attacker then fled down Nereid Ave. and has not been caught, he noted. Daily News.
Paramedics took the victim to Jacobi Medical Center, where he was treated and released. The injured man told the police that he had never seen his attacker before.

In a similar case, a Hispanic man was arrested on suspicion of having randomly stabbed a passenger at the Times Square station of the New York Subway early Monday morning.
In New York City The number of stabbings and cuts continues to rise. There were 4,493 cases in 2023 until early December, an increase of 6% compared to the same period in 2022. In parallel arrests for knife crimes have increased almost 30%.
The figures do not surprise experts because knives are easier and cheaper to get than a gun. However, they represent a more brutal attack because they involve more physical approach to the victim.
A previous NYPD report warned last August that fatal stabbings had risen 29% that year in the city compared to before the pandemic (2019). Attacks with knives have become more frequent in various scenarios: streets, buildings, homes, buses, Metro, parties, schools and even commercial establishments and ATM areas.
