Shortly before 1:30 p.m., a 78-year-old man was driving his motorcycle on the A15 towards Brüttiseller-Kreuz. For reasons that are currently unclear, he crashed violently into a delivery truck in the lane towards Zurich. The motorcyclist had a serious fall and was moderately injured. An ambulance transported the injured man to a hospital. The driver of the delivery truck was uninjured.
The Zurich cantonal police are investigating the exact cause of the accident in collaboration with the See/Oberland public prosecutor’s office. The motorcycle was seized. Because of the accident, the emergency services diverted traffic past the accident site in one lane. This led to significant traffic delays. The Wangen motorway entrance also remained temporarily closed. The scene of the accident was completely cleared around 3:30 p.m.
Together with the Zurich Cantonal Police, the Uster Hospital rescue service and an emergency doctor from Schutz & Rescue Zurich were on duty.
