A couple was executed in China for the murder of two children, reports

The children’s father, Zhang Bo, had an affair with the girl Ye Chengchen while he was married, but later divorced. The woman began to perceive Zhang’s two children as an “obstacle” to their marriage and a “burden to their future life together.” E repeatedly convinced her lover to kill his own children and threatened to break up with him if he did not do this.
According to investigators, in November 2020, Zhang succumbed to the persuasion of his lover and threw his two-year-old daughter and one-year-old son out of the window of an apartment on the 15th floor. The crime was committed in the city of Chongqing.
The court sentenced Zhang and Ye to death in December 2021, but the sentence was not implemented until 2024. Its execution was delayed by a lengthy appeal process that led to a second trial for the couple.
The Chongqing Higher People’s Court upheld the first decision, saying the verdict was fair. Afterwards, the decision was transferred to the Supreme People’s Court, which found that the roles of Zhang and Ye in the crime they committed were equivalent.
