Meanwhile, AlUla Royal Commission CEO Amir Bin Swalih Almadani was suspended due to corruption. This was informed by the Saudi Anti-Corruption (NASAHA) Authority. The AlUla Royal Commission is the governing body for AlUla, an important archaeological site in Saudi Arabia. The suspension followed the detection of crimes like abuse of power and money laundering.
Almadani is one of the owners of Talent Company, which illegally obtained national contracts from King Abdullah City Atomic and Renewable Energy. In this way, he earned more than 20.6 crore Rials. This was an intervention before AlUla was appointed as CEO of the Royal Commission. After this, it was found that he was taking benefits from the company even though he left the ownership of the company.
AlUla recommended the company to win contracts under several sections of the Royal Commission. It helped the company to get projects with a total value of around 13 lakh Riyals. Madani received personal favors from companies contracted by the authority. Almadani received the profits from the projects from a citizen named Muhammad bin Sulaiman Muhammad Alharbi, a relative of Almadani. He has also been arrested. The relative has admitted that the money was paid. The company’s partners, Sayoud bin Atweef Ahmed Sayoud and Jamal bin Khalid Abdullah Al-Dabal, won the contract through their friendship with Almadani. They have also been arrested.
