Walk and Bike to School
Schools in Uppsala municipality have for several years participated in the Trafikkalender’s Go and cycle to school, which is a free and national activity and is aimed at all students and teachers in Sweden in grades F-6. During two optional weeks in September-October, participating schools, classes and students collect travel points by having students walk, cycle or travel by public transport to and from school. Although the challenge is called Walk & cycle to school, everyone can participate and collect points. Students who for various reasons have to be driven to school by car can collect travel points by, for example, being dropped off a short distance before school and walking the last part. Another option is to set up a walking loop around the schoolyard or neighborhood.
