14 losses in the last 17 games.
Now the LA Kings act and fire Todd McLellan.
– A tough but necessary decision, says general manager Rob Blake.
A month and a half ago, the LA Kings were one of the NHL’s hottest teams. Goalkeeper Cam Talbot played great and Swede Adrian Kempe poured in goals.
Then came the crash.
14 losses in the last 17 games have caused them to lose ground in the table and right now they are fighting to reach the playoffs at all.
Praised – and fired
Now they act and fire their head coach Todd McLellan.
– Todd has done an outstanding job of taking this team in the right direction. This was not an easy decision, but we felt a change was necessary given the situation we are in, says general manager Rob Blake.
He takes over
Jim Hiller, who has been assistant head coach, will take over the responsibilities until further notice.
– Jim is respected within the organization and knows the players well. We are convinced that he will do well, says Rob Blake.
