President Vo Van Thuong wished Tet to overseas Vietnamese and beat the drum to celebrate Spring

(PLO) – Attending the 2024 Spring Homeland special art program, President Vo Van Thuong wished our compatriots abroad a Happy New Year and beat the drum to open the spring festival.

On the evening of February 2 (December 23), at the Independence Palace, Ho Chi Minh City, President Vo Van Thuong with his wife and 1,500 overseas Vietnamese participating in a special art program with the theme “Ho Chi Minh City – Continuing to write a shining epic”. The program is part of the Spring Homeland 2024 event series.

Also attending the program were Mr. Nguyen Van Nen, Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Mr. Do Van Chien, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Mr. Tran Luu Quang, Deputy Prime Minister.

At the program, on behalf of the Party and State, President Vo Van Thuong wished our compatriots abroad a Happy New Year.

The President said that in the past year, he had the opportunity to visit a number of countries, meet overseas Vietnamese and listen to their experiences.

“I was very moved and felt the aspiration, the will to rise, and the desire of my people to join hands in contributing to the development of the country.

Even though we live far away from the Fatherland, our people always nurture and promote the spirit of patriotism and national self-respect, preserve cultural traditions and look towards their roots, sticking to their families and homeland” – Chairman the president said.

According to the President, many overseas Vietnamese have made positive contributions to the host country, serving as an important bridge between Vietnam and the world. They are an important factor in people’s diplomacy, contributing to enhancing Vietnam’s position and reputation in the international arena.

“Today, the Vietnamese community is becoming more and more diverse with the succession of many generations. I hope young people will always be attached to their homeland, look towards Vietnam, speak Vietnamese, and be proud of their origins. Vietnam and the good traditional values ​​of the nation” – President Vo Van Thuong sent.

On this occasion, the President also called on overseas Vietnamese to unite, have a firm belief in the nation’s future goals, and join hands to build the country’s fortune, potential, position, and prestige.

After that, President Vo Van Thuong beat the drum to open the 2024 Spring Festival.

“Hometown Spring” is an annual activity for overseas Vietnamese around the world to return to their roots. At the same time, it demonstrates the Party and State’s concern for the Vietnamese community abroad, encouraging overseas Vietnamese to preserve the nation’s identity and traditions.

The program is large-scale, attracting the participation of a large number of overseas Vietnamese from all over the world returning to their homeland to celebrate Tet, and is welcomed by the Vietnamese community abroad every time Tet and Spring come.
