In large parts of the country, the extreme weather “Ingunn” will be replaced by a new storm towards the weekend.
A storm center is now heading towards parts of central Norway and Helgeland, where many have hardly had time to breathe after the ravages of the wind.
– It may already start a little tonight, before it increases tomorrow, so there won’t be a long break, says meteorologist Eldbjørg Moxnes at the Meteorological Institute to Dagbladet.
Admittedly, the wind will not be as strong as Thursday. At most, wind gusts of between 30 and 38 meters per second are expected along parts of the coast, from the same wind direction as during the extreme weather.
– Those who made it through yesterday will probably cope with this too, but there will be another round, says Moxnes.

– Winter not over
Southern Norway is also characterized by mild weather.
There, the low-pressure activity will bring a lot of rain, especially in Western Norway, where up to 110 millimeters of rain is expected in some places from Friday to Saturday morning.
– There is a lot of precipitation, even for those who can tolerate a lot, and with snow melting in addition, says Moxnes.
It is expected that the snow line will creep upwards – that the mild weather may lead to snowmelt and storm water also in the high mountains.
The avalanche danger is high in several places – in both southern and northern Norway.
Towards the end of the weekend, temperatures in southern Norway are expected to drop again, before next week minus degrees are expected across the country.
Then a new round of snow is also expected in östafjell.
– Winter is not over, notes Moxnes.

There may be new danger warnings
There will also be precipitation in northern Norway, when the storm moves closer.
– Especially in the south of Nordland, there can be quite a lot of snow, says Moxnes.
A danger warning has been issued at yellow level that applies in the mountains of Helgeland, where up to half a meter of snow is expected from Friday to Saturday afternoon.
A little further south, there may also be lightning in connection with the storm.
– This is something we continuously monitor, says Moxnes.
The institute continuously assesses whether more danger alerts should be upgraded and whether new ones should be sent out. The meteorologist encourages you to keep an eye on them.
Even across the country, the weekend’s low pressure will be affected.
– But we have done away with the worst, says Moxnes.
