continenta.co.id, TANJUNG SELOR -The Indonesian Ministry of Health has conducted a National Immunization Sub Week (PIN) for Polio to deal with Extraordinary Events (KLB) in several regions in Indonesia.
Cases of paralysis that occurred in Pamekasan and Sampang Regencies in East Java, as well as Klaten Regency in Central Java are the reasons why polio immunization must be the main program in maintaining children’s health.
Head of the North Kalimantan Health Service (Dinkes), Usman, explained that the polio immunization program is carried out routinely by the North Kalimantan Health Office. However, the cases that occur are usually children who do not receive complete immunization.
“Therefore, the North Kalimantan Health Office is making a surveillance report to detect the number of cases, so that initial treatment can be carried out quickly,” he said, Friday (2/2/2024)
Usman appealed to parents and the public to be more aware of the importance of polio immunization to maintain children’s health.
He explained that polio is a contagious disease and can cause paralysis in children and even lead to death.
“In this case, vaccination is one way to prevent the spread of this disease,” he said.
Even though the polio immunization program has been running for a long time, in fact there are still many parents who are hesitant and reluctant to give the vaccine to their children. In fact, by vaccinating children, you can protect them from the disease caused by the polio virus.
It is important to know the real facts about vaccinations and give them to children as an effort to protect their health.
In the case of polio, vaccination has been shown to be effective in reducing the number of cases. In fact, in the last few decades, the number of cases in North Kalimantan has decreased.
This condition can be the basis for why vaccination is the best method for preventing the spread of infectious diseases.
“We believe that every child has the right to live a healthy and happy life, and that starts with providing the right vaccinations so that the results can be more effective,” he concluded.
