Ihab Wassef, head of the Gold Division at the Federation of Industries, warned against buying so-called “Chinese gold,” noting that it may cause cancer in humans.
Nassef added, during a phone call on the “Kol Al-Zawiya” program with the journalist Sarah Hazem Taha, broadcast on the “ON” channel: “The Chinese gold spread in the markets is misnamed, as it is an accessory, and the nature of its production is harmful to health, because it is taken from metal waste, and these metals are liquefied.” It is shaped into a ring or bracelet jewelry.
He added: “The so-called Chinese gold contains zinc, nickel and lead, and if these metals come into contact with the skin, they may cause cancer in humans.”
