On Thursday, in the early evening hours, the bookstore’s reading room was full, which is no wonder, since the topic of the discussion series aroused the interest of many. They talked about the start of the former Székesfehérvár newspaper, Árgus, and the evolution of its fate with those present.
The literary evening started with a performance by the actor Tamás Ács, during which he recited to the audience poems that were also published in Árgus.
Later, former editor-in-chief Imre Péntek and deputy editor-in-chief István Bakonyi talked about the antecedents of the magazine’s launch, and then about the launch. As they said long before 1990, they voiced their desire to start a magazine of this type in Székesfehérvár. István Bakonyi said that the 15 years he spent at Árgus was the most beautiful period of his association with literature.
Writers, poets, and literature lovers who published in the paper were also present at the nostalgic event. Zoltán Sági, Valéria Simek and Zsolt Neményi also shared their memories with those present.
By the way, the magazine operated for almost 20 years, between 1990 and 2009.
The hosts of the event were Judit Bokros and Gábor Gellén-Miklós.
