Malmö FF and Erik Botheim agree on a four-year contract. The 24-year-old Norwegian striker joins from Serie A club US Salernitana.

Erik Bothheim
Erik Botheim was born in Oslo and made his senior debut in 2015 in Lyn as a 15-year-old. The following year he was recruited by Rosenborg BK to whom he belonged until 2021 before leaving for the Norwegian champion team Bodö/Glimt.
In the 20/21 season, Botheim had his definitive breakthrough when he played all 30 league matches and scored 15 goals when Bodö/Glimt won the Eliteserien. The team also achieved great success in the Europa Conference League, winning their group ahead of AS Roma, Zorya Luhansk and CSKA Sofia. Botheim was an important key in the promotion with his four goals and three assists in the group stage.
After the success with Bodö/Glimt, the Norwegian was recruited by Russian Krasnodar for the 2022 season. In the middle of the summer, Italian US Salernitana then confirmed that the club had signed a contract with Erik Botheim.

– This is a player we have known for a while. I saw his progress in Norway, then we met him at the camp two years ago when he played in Krasnodar. Erik is a player who has qualities that can complement those already in the squad. He is a very versatile player, all-rounder and good at most things. Then, of course, the most important thing of all, good at scoring goals.
– It has been a prerequisite for us that we can tie him up for a while to come. It obviously feels good that we got it done and that he is here now.

– I am very happy that this transition has been completed. When I heard about Malmö FF’s interest, I immediately felt that this is what I want. I saw MFF play last summer and it’s a team that I think I’ll fit in well. After talking to the coach, I’ve got an even bigger desire to play for the club.
– I am a player who likes to be at the front and to be in the box. Hopefully I can contribute with goals and thereby contribute to the team winning matches. That is the most important thing for me and now I long to play in front of the MFF supporters.
