During State of Play, we received confirmation of the rumors that Sony is preparing a refreshed version of Until Dawn. The Ballistic Moon studio is responsible for the production – in August 2022 we informed about the developers’ cooperation with PlayStation.
The return of Until Dawn is not accidental. A few weeks ago, Sony announced the adaptation of the horror game by Supermassive Games, and although we do not know the release date yet, the well-known story will be released in cinemas, being a love letter to fans of bloody horror films.

Ballistic Moon has had a difficult task to convince PlayStation 5 owners and PC gameplay enthusiasts to enjoy the previous-generation production – the game’s creative director, Neil McEwan, promises that the new version of the horror game will feature “emotional depth, an improved look and a completely new sound.”
Until Dawn Remake has been rebuilt on Unreal Engine 5 – the creators made improvements, and the works were made with “passion and care for the original by a team of genre lovers.”

We were brave enough to shed light on the dark, unseen corners of Blackwood Mountain and added a third-person camera, which means you can now peek behind the curtain of the original game, discovering improved and new locations with new interactions and collectibles.

The studio has retained the original story, but apparently we can count on some expansion of it that will “develop unexplored emotional parts of the story.”
