This is the best of two worlds – the aerodynamics of a coupé with the space of an SUV. A so-called suv coupé, a word we read more and more in motoring media.
– Introducing Polestar 4 in all our markets in 2024 is important for our continued success and expands our range with this third model, says Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar, according to a press release.
– Polestar 4 takes it the premium and performance class in the D SUV segment. The model’s innovative interpretation of an SUV coupé offers a generous interior space and a stunning appearance.
Perhaps the most talked about design detail is the rear window, or the lack of a rear window. This is taken from the Polestar Precept concept car – and provides, among other things, a more enveloping experience for the “back seat riders”. In addition, this design detail enables a longer and more enveloping glass panoramic roof.
– With Polestar Precept we previewed a great new passenger experience by removing the rear window and moving the safety-critical rear roof beam further back. This means that the passengers in the back seat now get a unique experience in our SUV coupé, says Maximilian Missoni, Head of Design at Polestar.
Polestar 4 is built on the premium platform Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA), developed by Geely Holding, and has an interior designed around the theme of “soft tech”. In soft terms, this means that inspiration has been taken from the fashion industry and sportswear.
Performance wise it excels Polestar 4 with a 0-100 time of 3.8 seconds and has a maximum output of 544 hp (400 kW). Dual motor and Single motor are available, the latter of which is rear wheel drive.
The long range versions use a 100 kWh battery where the Dual motor version offers an estimated range of up to 580 km according to WLTP. Long range with Single motor subsequently offers up to 610 km in range (WLPT).
Charging on up to 200 kW applies to both and hardware prepared for bidirectional charging is included and Vehicle-to-load functionality is planned in the long term. As standard, a heat pump is fitted – helpful when pre-conditioning the passenger compartment and the battery.
Finally we can say that the Polestar 4 is official and has a Swedish starting price of SEK 700,000. Production is planned to start in mid-2024 with the first deliveries expected from August.
