This approach is also the basis of the Volksbanken and Raiffeisenbanken. “The cooperative principle perfectly reflects the commitment of the helpers and is also the basis of every successful crowdfunding project,” explains Elke Baunack, responsible for the regional commitment of Volksbank Lüneburger Heide. She asks everyone in the region to support the project.
Volksbank Lüneburger Heide doubles every donation up to 200 euros
“Let us say ‘thank you’ together for this extraordinary, voluntary effort. Every euro counts and 100 percent goes to those responsible,” says Elke Baunack. “We at Volksbank will double any support up to 200 euros until the project total has reached 20,000 euros.” The money collected would benefit the various aid organizations that ensured that the impending catastrophe was averted.

In principle, all non-profit associations and organizations can also initiate crowdfunding projects. The Volksbank not only provides the platform free of charge, but also supports each project financially: for every supporter who gives at least ten euros, it pays an additional ten euros. In addition, every club that has an account with the Volksbank receives a fifth of the targeted project amount as start-up capital.

“More than 170 projects have been successful since it started in 2017,” says Elke Baunack, pleased about the positive response. A total of 920,000 euros were distributed, of which 320,000 euros alone came from Volksbank funds.
