Buying meat in Czech retail chains is already starting to smell like an unpleasant risk. Every now and then, the State Agricultural and Food Inspection finds some kind of misconduct, which is usually of a very serious nature. At the same time, it is true that the chains should take the utmost care of the meat, as bad handling or the sale of spoiled meat can cause huge problems for customers.
Clear after sniffing
Lidl failed this time. “The State Agricultural and Food Inspection found signs of spoilage in the food Turkey leg lower,” states SZPI. “Our inspectors officially collected the food in question from the Lidl grocery store, Kutnohorská 555, Mukařov.“
However, it is likely that the goods will have a similar problem in other stores. The inspectors did not find that the food had been improperly stored or had an expired use-by date. Doubts could thus have arisen earlier, for example in the production process.
“The food smelled rotten. Food is not considered safe if it shows signs of spoilage,” stated the inspectors. They actually detected spoiled food by smell. It follows that the chain could have looked into it itself and not put it up for sale in the first place.
Don’t you have them at home?
These turkey legs came from Poland and their use-by date was December 10, 2023. However, many may still have them frozen, especially if they bought them on some attractive special offer, which is not out of the question. The batch number of the product in question is R52444.

In any case, the retail chains should come to their senses and start selling really high-quality food to the Czechs, with which they will not have to worry that something unpleasant will happen to them after consuming it.
