Nadezhdin Submits Signatures to Run for President, Promises to End War in Ukraine

Nadezhdin submitted the signatures of his supporters to the Central Election Commission, which will now examine the application and decide whether he can run.

Nadezhdin has promised to end the war in Ukraine and announced last week that he had collected the necessary 100,000 signatures for registration.

Nadezhdin has been in Russian politics for more than 30 years. At one time, he was a deputy of the Dolgoprudnya city council of Perimaskava, as well as a legislator in the State Duma for a short time.

As Nadezhdin admitted in a conversation with the AFP news agency, the chances that he could be allowed to run in elections or appear on state television are not great.

In order to show their support for Nadezhdin’s candidacy with their signatures, lines of supporters formed at signature collection centers throughout Russia.

The Central Election Commission must make a decision within ten days. During this time, it will have to verify the authenticity of the submitted signatures.

Nadezhdin is running from the “Civil Initiative” party, he expresses anti-war views and has publicly spoken out against the policies of dictator Vladimir Putin.

He was a member of the Union of Right Forces in the State Duma.
