21-year-old Morgan Rogers has impressed during the season for his Middlesbrough, where he has, among other things, been responsible for six assists in 13 appearances from the start.
This has attracted interest from clubs higher up the league system and now Aston Villa look set to win the battle for the winger.
Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano states that the Birmingham team has reached a verbal agreement with Middlesbrough. Rogers is said to have now left the training facility to go to the medical examination which is scheduled within the next 24 hours.
Rogers has a past in Manchester City’s operations, where he most notably belonged to the club’s U21 and U23 teams. During the summer, however, he left the club to get the opportunity to play senior football in The Championship with Middlesbrough.
