Confiscation of illicit items
During the search, the police forces managed to seize a variety of illicit objects that point to practices not permitted within the penitentiary center.
Among the confiscated items were sharp weapons, cell phone chargers, cable adapters, intoxicating beverages, marijuana wrappers and crushers, among others.
The Minister of the Interior, Francisco Jiménez, highlighted that these security actions reflect the firm commitment of the Government of Guatemala to confront extortion. He stressed that the fight against organized crime is a priority, seeking not only to strengthen citizen security in the country, but also to protect the lives and property of the entire population.
A clear message
With this operation, the Government seeks to send a clear message: “Zero tolerance for crime, even from behind bars”.
Likewise, the coordination between different specialized units reinforces the idea that citizen security is a joint and constant task.
The search in El Infiernito shows that the authorities are taking firm measures to eradicate criminal practices. Like the extortion calls that arise from inside prisons.
This step contributes to the construction of a safer Guatemala. Where citizens can trust that the Government is committed to their protection and well-being. [Tomado de AGN]
