ITUM Acquires Former Director General of SPUM for Emergency Measures Sector

ITUM has just acquired a new resource for its Emergency Measures Sector, the former director general of SPUM, Raynald Malec. In office since December 1, he will act as assistant to the coordination of the service.

It was during the COVID pandemic that all ITUM sector directors had to mobilize to protect their population.

“We reach a population of 6,000 in Uashat mak Mani-utenam. ITUM has always been capable of protecting its population, but we realized that someone was missing in this position,” explains Mr. Malec.

He will follow several training courses over the next year to familiarize himself with his new functions.

Since 2012 there has been an emergency measures policy within ITUM.

“I am therefore going to update this emergency measures policy, provide names, but also, put it in the colors of the council. We are not safe from any threat. This way, we will be ready to act more quickly. As we were informed during the evacuation of Mani-utenam last summer. We can talk about fuel spills, etc. And also the impact of climate change,” he explains.

A committee composed of ITUM employees will be set up soon.

Prevention

On CKAU, Mr. Malec made a point of making a first request to the population.

“What tires me out at the moment are the power outages. Every house, every family must be able to survive 72 hours. You have to prepare food, candles, batteries and above all, buy a survival radio, with its battery on its side which is charged with a crank. Because what’s fun about the CKAU is that in your new offices, you have a generator, which will help with the instructions of the emergency measures service, the crux of the war, communication. »

Moreover, ITUM will display informative stickers on Facebook and on its website to share emergency measures.
