It has previously been reported that Deniz Hümmet has reached an agreement with Djurgården. Now the information has also been confirmed from the club.
During Tuesday morning, the club released the news that they are picking up the 27-year-old striker, who left Kalmar FF after last season.
– It feels incredibly inspiring and it is a matter of pride to come to such a large association as Djurgården. I’m really looking forward to playing in front of the supporters at Tele2 Arena. An exciting time awaits and I am very hungry for the challenge – to come here and help the team to new victories, explains Hümmet himself.
On its website, the club also confirms that it is winning the battle for Hümmet’s signature – ahead of both Allsvenskan and foreign clubs.
– I had a good discussion all the way with Bosse (Andersson) where we both felt that me and Djurgården match well together. The level of ambition here in DIF matches well with my own, where, as I said, I am still very hungry for success. So I chose to go with that feeling and signed for Djurgården.
For Djurgården, the signing means, in addition to some prestige, also that you get a striker with a proven nose for goal.
– A forward who scores goals in slightly different ways and who is now in his prime. We have had meetings with him and it has been noticed that he has been sought after in this transfer window, including abroad. But we had a meeting a few weeks ago where he made it clear that he was very hungry for success and motivated to take a leading role in a bigger team like Dif, states the sports manager Bosse Andersson.
During last year’s season, Hümmet accounted for nine goals in Kalmar FF, where he joined in 2023. Earlier in his career, he has represented clubs such as Örebro, Elfsborg and Malmö FF.
