The artist’s graphic works will be exhibited at the exhibition. Using various graphic techniques, Kalvis Kalniņš focuses on the environment and systems created by humans and artificial intelligence in his works. The series of works depicts the author’s interpretation of the technological singularity – a phenomenon that predicts the moment when technological development exceeds the capacity of human consciousness. “As a result of the self-development of artificial intelligence, the course of events would become unpredictable. The white noise depicted in the graphic sketches helps to sense the incomprehensibility and vastness of such information flow,” the artist explains further.
The artist Kalvis Kalniņš obtained a bachelor’s and master’s degree in the subfield of Graphics at the Latvian Academy of Arts, specializing in gravure printing techniques. In his works, he reproduces human relations with time and space, as well as interpretations of various anthropological concepts. Since 2011, Kalvis has created several solo exhibitions, as well as participated in group exhibitions and the Biennale of New Art The art of the future (2018, 2019).
