Benefits of membership verified
As part of the implementation of the city’s business location strategy, the economic development agency was commissioned to review and maximize the benefits of membership in the “House of Winterthur”. It also had to be examined whether membership in another regional location development organization such as the Zurich Airport Region or the Zürioberland Location Promotion would be an alternative or would usefully complement membership in the “House of Winterthur”. Finally, the option for action was also included: the city is not a member of any regional location development organization, the city council said.
The analysis shows that remaining in the “House of Winterthur” is still expedient. This is supported by the external perception as the second largest city in the organization, the opportunities for influence within the organization, the geographical proximity in connection with cooperation in other areas, such as regional planning for Winterthur and the surrounding area, as well as the appeal of Winterthur as a larger city and economic magnet. In addition, the “House of Winterthur” has recently achieved various improvements in terms of membership benefits.
