The Lakers are surveying the market as this deadline approaches, but it is difficult to find the rare gem. Rob Pelinka’s decision to retain Austin Reaves doesn’t help, although an exception exists on the front office side.
Badly embarked in the West, it is clear that the Lakers are still far from exploiting their potential. The squad is struggling to get into place and the sometimes questionable decisions of Darvin Ham are not helping. Despite all this, the front office should keep the coach until the end of the season, which means that we should instead expect changes at the player level.
The controversial decision of the Lakers on the market
Thanks to his recent good performances, D’Angelo Russell should ultimately stay in the City of Angels. This is also the case for Austin Reaves, deemed untouchable by Rob Pelinka, who categorically refuses to give up his player… except in one specific case. The Lakers have no interest in trading Austin Reaves. They would be willing to trade him for the arrival of a third All-Star, with a name like Lauri Markannen being the only one potentially available on the market (and an unrealistic option for the Lakers, to be clear).
Suffice to say that Reaves should not move if this rumor is to be believed. The Lakers will never find such a trade for their player, while the Dejounte Murray trail has gone cold. Enough to annoy Internet users.
