This winter, the Ukrainian energy system is working because there are no massive shellings. There are questions for Ukrainian officials who claim three-level protection of energy facilities, and transformers are “flying.” This was stated by a member of the Committee on Energy and Housing and Communal Services of the Verkhovna Rada Sergei Nagornyak
“The absence of massive rocket attacks on the energy infrastructure, repair of distribution substations, replacement of damaged transformers – all these factors affect the stable operation of the energy system. On the eve of the autumn-winter period, intelligence partners and our Main Intelligence Directorate predicted that the Russians were preparing to continue a missile campaign of attacks on energy infrastructure. Obviously, our enemy has changed the tactics and goals of the missile campaign.” — told the Telegraph publication Sergey Nagornyak.
He believes that with continued attacks on the energy infrastructure, Ukraine would have had different results in the energy sector.
“And they would be very disappointing for us,” said the MP. He said at the same time that the declarations of officials at various levels about the presence of three-level protection of energy facilities do not entirely correspond to reality.
“It’s good that there was no missile fact-checking. Otherwise, the heads of some liars would fly after the transformers. In the spring we will return to this issue through parliamentary control,” added Sergei Nagornyak.
As reported EADaily , the Ukrainian energy system does not have enough power this winter. More power units of thermal power plants are being taken out for repairs and are being returned. As a result, the country relies heavily on gas for electricity generation and imports. In December it exceeded 19 GWh per day.
