Manchester United narrowly knocked out League 2 side Newport in the FA Cup.
They did it without Marcus Rashford, who was missing after two nightclub visits this week.
– It is an internal matter, says coach Erik ten Hag.
Last autumn, Marcus Rashford was in a nightclub after the loss against Derby County and was sawn by the coach. This week he has been in bad weather again after two nightclub visits, the latter in Belfast just hours before training in Manchester. A workout that he has since called in sick for.
When the team for the FA Cup match against Newport County was announced, Rashford was missing – and instead remained at United’s training facility.
– Let’s say it’s an internal matter, I will deal with it, ten Hag commented to the BBC about why the English midfielder was missing.
Icon Alan Shearer then expressed his concern about the incident:
– He can’t continue like this, he can’t waste his talent because it’s not right, says Shearer.

Newport recovered from the deficit
Once on the pitch, United had enough stars to take an early 2-0 lead against the League 2 side. Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring after just seven minutes and 18-year-old talent Kobbie Mainoo added shortly after.
But before the break, Bryn Morris reduced the deficit for the Fourth Division side and just minutes into the second half, former Farmer Will Evans poked home the equalizer in front of an excited home crowd.
But in the 68th minute, United regained the lead to make it 3–2, when Anthony was first on a post rebound from Luke Shaw’s long-range shot. Newport pressed during extra time and instead Rasmus Höjlund was able to close the match with the 4–2 goal in the 94th.
In the next round, Manchester United will face the winner between Bristol City and Nottingham Forest.
