It is for Nerikes Allehanda as Jessica Almenäs tells us that one day she made the somewhat odd discovery that she and her love Patrik were related.
She discovered it all by chance, Jessica had done genealogical research in her youth and noted the name Fahlgren. When she then met her boyfriend, the memory came back.
– We started digging into it and it turned out that we are descended in the eighth generation from a brother and a sister, she tells NA.
For obvious reasons, questions began to swirl in her head. Being related to your partner can make a big difference. But luckily, Jessica and Patrik’s family ties do not pose any risk.
– I began to think: Is this strange? Could it be wrong with our children? But in eighth place is far too far away. But it’s a pretty funny story.

Jessica Almenäs and former handball professional Patrik Fahlgren met in 2015, and have a son Sam together. They met on Facebook, and Jessica had recently gone through a tough breakup.
– We had mutual friends and I had seen him on a friend’s Instagram account. I thought he was cute so I stalked him a bit, and then we started chatting. Patrik was a handball professional in Germany at the time, so it took quite a while before we saw each other in real life. We chatted for a long time before and really got to know each other by texting back and forth, Jessica has told Amelia.
– I went on a couple of trips after the separation, and thought for a while that I would live alone with my children. But when I met Patrik, I felt so clearly that we are meant to be together. Yes, I thought it had to be us, otherwise I don’t know what I’m doing – and in that situation you dare.
