Stardew Valley 1.6 Update: Release Date, New Content, and More

There have always been groups of loyal players who have continued to enjoy the same game over the years. Either because it is a game that is constantly developing, expanding or focusing on the multiplayer model. We see this often in MMOs, in certain shooters, and even in sandbox games like Minecraft. But there are also games that are at home. And when you thought it couldn’t get any bigger, they surprise you. Such is the case with Stardew Valley.

Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone’s lifesim is always at the top of the best-selling games on most platforms, even though it was released in 2016. Now that the creator of the game is taking a break from the development of his next game, Haunted Chocolatier, he has decided to become part of the development team and work on the Stardew Valley 1.6 update.

Barone has given us a few glimpses of what’s to come in 1.6, but it seems his plans have grown as the months have passed. According to his latest Twitter post, the update “ended up being a bit bigger than originally planned. However, I’ve finished adding some important new content and it’s now in a bug-fixing and polishing phase before it’s ready for launch. Thanks for your patience – it’ll be fun to see everyone play it!”

As usual, the developer also answers the fans personally in the same thread, where he emphatically states that the update will come in 2024, that it will be free, and that he recommends everyone to start a new save file to experience all the changes and improvements in context.
