The number of flu cases confirmed by the Public Health Directorate (DSP) Dolj doubled last week compared to the previous report published by the health institution. At the same time, the first case of influenza with type B virus appeared.
500 patients confirmed with pneumopathy
The number of cases of patients with respiratory diseases was increasing last week. The latest report for Dolj county, published on Thursday, showed a number of 2218 cases of respiratory viruses and flu, an increase compared to the previous report (1855), however, the figures are below the value recorded in the same period last year (2663 cases) .
Of the more than 2,000 cases under the supervision of DSP Dolj, 1,642 are acute infections of the upper respiratory tract. Another 500 patients were confirmed with acute pneumopathies.
Incidence of flu, increasing during this period
76 cases of influenza were also registered, of which 74 were confirmed by rapid tests – influenza virus type A and type B – and 2 clinical cases. The number of flu cases reported at the end of last week is double the figure from the previous report. Two weeks ago there were 39 cases of flu. The incidence of influenza has steadily increased. Three weeks ago, the number of confirmed cases was 27.
Also, for the first time in this season’s DSP reports, the occurrence of influenza type B virus cases is also mentioned.
The Dolj Public Health Directorate characterizes the week as sporadic flu activity.
Almost 15% of the patients in the DSP record required hospitalization
14.24% of the 2218 cases of respiratory infections mentioned in the DSP report required hospitalization.
The population incidence rate of IACRS cases was 241.99 o/oooo, flu 11.20 o/oooo and of pneumopathies was 73.68 o/oooo.
Until this date, the number of people vaccinated against influenza in Dolj county is 52,675.
