As a representative of the Storting, she uses the opportunity to send her nomination of Azaiza to The Nobel Committee.

She says she appreciates that Azaiza provides photos and videos that the Israeli authorities do not want us to see.

International journalists are not allowed in. Many local journalists have been killed.

Big risk

– It is almost impossible to describe how big a risk those who also choose to document the acts of war are taking. But we are completely dependent on Azaiza and his colleagues, says the Liberal representative in the Storting.

She has told the parliamentary group in the party that she wants to nominate Azaiza. The nomination goes to

– I experienced full support from everyone there, says Venstre-Ingvild.

Eyes of the world

She reminds that those who stand up to threats from powerful states and continue to write, take pictures, film and sound recordings are the eyes and ears of the world.

– The world needs them today, to understand better. And for posterity, to remember, says the parliamentary representative who works on a daily basis in the Judiciary Committee.

According to figures from CPJ 83 journalists (as of 27 January) have been killed in Gaza since the war started.

VG has not been able to make contact with Motaz Aizaza on Sunday. But on one of its own latest videos from Gaza he says that he allows himself to be evacuated from the war-prone area – and will not report from there in the future.
