On March 8, the percussion ensemble “Sō Percussion” and the Pulitzer Prize laureate, singer Caroline Shaw from the USA will perform a joint concert in the “Hanzas Perons” cultural space, LETA agency was informed by the artistic director of “Hanzas Perons” Mick Magone.
The ensemble “Sō Percussion” was founded in 1999, the ensemble “Sō Percussion” creates chamber music concert programs of various genres.
The ensemble consists of Eric Cha Beach, Josh Quillen, Adam Slivinski and Jason Truting. “Sō Percussion” has recorded several albums, performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Barbican, regularly playing the works of the most prominent 20th and 21st century composers, including those created for this ensemble.
During the past years, the ensemble has recorded two albums together with the musician Šo. At the beginning of 2021, the recording “Narrow Sea” was released, which also features pianist Gilberts Kelish and singer Dona Apsho, bringing the author a “Grammy” award for the best contemporary classical music composition.
She received not only the “Grammy” award, but also the Pulitzer prize. The musician is still the youngest winner of this award.
The material for the album “Let The Soil Play Its Simple Part” – Shaw’s original songs and a version of a Swedish pop song – was created in three days, when the Covid-19 pandemic was raging. With the co-created program “Sō Percussion” and Sho have performed in both the US and Europe, including the Elba Philharmonic, the Thuringia Bach Weeks in Germany, the Catalan Music Palace in Barcelona and the Barbican’s Milton Court.
